Being able to model, especially people, opens up a whole new world to your cake decorating. 

In this course we explain the basics of modelling and then how to use those skills to create icing people.  You can choose whether to make a grandma or a teenage boy (your tutor will demonstrate and explain both and you choose which you would prefer to make on the day) and a baby (we planned this carefully – if you know how to create an older appearance, and a baby you will be able to create everything in between).  Even if you have never modelled in icing before go home with fun figures including a baby!  Using modelling paste and a variety of innovative techniques lean how to create fun, caricature style figures to add an extra dimension to your celebration cakes.

Annabelle established Confection Perfection (now re-branded as Annabelle Jane Cake School) in 1996 from her kitchen table; bought her first retail premises in 2000 and is now settled in a delightful setting in Bearsted, just outside Maidstone.  Annabelle has extensive cake decorating experience and is highly creative and artistic. Annabelle is an accredited tutor for the PME Diplomas in Sugar craft and also designs and delivers a wide range of other highly successful cake baking and decorating classes. Annabelle has a huge vision for our Cake School and ensures that the strong reputation we have earned continues to grow lead by her consistently high standards.

The course price includes everything you need to create your modelled characters and the box and cake bag to take it home. We will provide all the materials, all sugarcraft tools, equipment and refreshments. Course attendees will also receive a full set of course notes and a 10% discount on items (that you have used on your course) purchased in the cake decorating supplies shop on the day of your course.

  • Tutorial – basic principles of modelling including lots of CP top tips and insider secrets
  • How to create an armchair from modelling paste and add detailing using modelling tools
  • How to create a cushion and foot stool from modelling paste.

  • Proportions in modelling – getting them right to ensure success.
  • How to create a baby from modelling paste

  • How to create a granny from modelling paste
  • How to use modelling tools to enhance the appearance of your modelled characters.

  • Storage & transportation of your modelled figures
What's the skill level?

Any level, beginners and upwards. This is a lovely follow on from our introduction to modelling mini workshop.

Are there any age restrictions?

Age 14+ (under 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is attending the course)

What are the course times?

This course is a full day course 9.30am – 3.30pm with approx. half hour lunch break.

What do I need to bring?

We provide everything you need. You may like to bring a sandwich or alternatively lunch may be ordered from the coffee shop next door (order when you arrive, it will be delivered at lunch time)
