During this fun and informative class, you'll decorate six different animal cupcakes – a lion, tiger, zebra, monkey, sloth and otter. Each design introduces new techniques, making this the perfect class for anyone wanting to build confidence with buttercream piping while creating a stunning platter to take home.
Throughout the class you'll learn:
- How to prepare and fill piping bags quickly and neatly.
- Tutorial - how to colour buttercream.
- How to use a variety of piping nozzles, including star nozzles and grass/fur nozzles.
- A range of buttercream piping techniques, including piping stars, fur, lines and textured finishes.
- How to position facial features to create expressive animal characters.
- How to make ears, noses, muzzles and other decorative details from fondant.
- How to use edible dust colours to add depth, shading and realistic detail.
- How to create a personalised centre message plaque using fondant and Jem letter cutters.
- Tips and tricks for achieving a professional finish throughout the platter.
- Storage & transportation of your cupcake platter.
By the end of the class, you'll have created a delightful six-cupcake animal-themed platter that's almost too cute to eat, along with plenty of new decorating skills and techniques that you can use on many future cake and cupcake projects.

Annabelle established Confection Perfection (now re-branded as Annabelle Jane Cake School) in 1996 from her kitchen table; bought her first retail premises in 2000 and is now settled in a delightful setting in Bearsted, just outside Maidstone. Annabelle has extensive cake decorating experience and is highly creative and artistic. Annabelle is an accredited tutor for the PME Diplomas in Sugar craft and also designs and delivers a wide range of other highly successful cake baking and decorating classes. Annabelle has a huge vision for our Cake School and ensures that the strong reputation we have earned continues to grow lead by her consistently high standards.
Everything is provided - the cupcakes, buttercream, icings, colours, use of equipment, a reusable masonite board and a box to take your platter home.
Students receive a comprehensive set of notes, you are welcome to take photos to supplement your notes.
We provide refreshments - tea, coffee, drinking water and cake.
Free parking.
You may like to bring an apron but please don't buy one as we do have spares.
