When it all goes wrong!
Practical tips when nothing seems to be working
Top tips from cake club members - when things go wrong
As cake decorators - whether hobby bakers or professionals we all have times when nothing seems to go right, we want to throw the cake at the wall and have a good cry. All the following comments are from members of Cake Club - I hope they help if you are having 'one of those days' xx
this sounds like a step away from the cake moment - I will put money on your being too hard on yourself - take a picci and post it or message it to a cakey friend you trust - sometimes you just need a new perspective - when you spend so long inches away from your creation you only focus on the bits your not happy with - come on girl - you can do this (Natalie)
walk away, have a cuppa and regroup (Sue)
We've all been there. Definitely step away and take a moment. Then plan. Work out time available to you, what you can achieve in that time and be realistic. Then you will have a sense of achievement against your new plan. Promise. It will all be ok (Kathryn)
Stay positive. We're always our own worst critics and only see the worse parts of our creations not the best. I'm sure after a break away from things, you'll create a masterpiece!! Good luck with it tomorrow and remember the positivity!!! (Sally)
Recently, I'd just finished painting the face of my current favourite head, when I accidentally knocked it onto the floor. I was relieved when I checked her eyelashes to see them all intact and thought I'd got away with it until I discovered a chip on her nose! In bygone days, I'd have deposited her in the bin, felt a bit peeved and started again. With nothing to lose, I attempted a repair job and it worked! Stay positive, deep breath and try again. (Debbie)
